It looks like you were unlucky.
http://mirror.unl.edu/fedora/epel/5/x86_64/?C=M;O=D
is an out of date mirror not updated since 28th September.
the simple way is to edit the two yum repo files and swap the two
lines to be sure
but a yum clean all and rerunning it will most likely pick a different mirror.
#baseurl=http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/$basearch
mirrorlist=http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=epel-5&arch=$basearch
pick a close one manually from the mirror list if you like
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=epel-5&arch=i386
http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/mirrorlist?repo=epel-5&arch=x86_64
but this is of course a bit rubbish and should not happen.
