Thanks for the feedback!  This kind of thing is very helpful.

Are any of the binary releases offered by globus compatible with your system?  This could save you 
the trouble of building.

Interesting, can you give us more info on why you suspect this is the reason?

hopefully our binary releases can solve this for you.

We have traditionally avoided handling meta-data issues like this and ownership/file permissions. 
However we are open to users needs.  We will have some internal discussions on this.

This will very likely happen soon.  We have identified this as a problem elsewhere and have plans to 
fix detect and terminate transfers that hang like this.
